Notes for MOSES BARBER:
His first wife, Susannah Waite died young. She was the daughter of Samuel Wait and Hannah Whitman. His second wife Susannah West was the granddaughter of George Soul a signer of the "Mayflower Compact". 

In 1691 he moved from Newport, Rhode Island to North Kingston, Rhode Island.

In 1693, he purchased three hundred and thirty acres of the Pettequanscut Purchase within the limits of the present town of South Kingston, Rhode Island. A pond near the site of his house still bears the name "Barbers Pond". He died in 1728. His first wife was the mother of: William, Sarah and Moses Barber.

Benjamin Barber served in the Revolutionary War. He was enlisted by Lt. Henry Alexander in Capt. Parker's Co. in Christopher Smith's Regt. , serving for fifteen months. He received 6L at time of enlistment. He later served in said company as a Private from January 14, 1777 to May 15, 1777. This was attested by Charles P. Bennett, Secretary of State of Rhode Island September 17, 1897 by state documents:Pension Roll, 1st Session, 23d Congress Volume 12. He was a Private in the Rhode Island Militia and placed on the Pension Roll January 21, 1833. Pension commenced March 04, 1831. He received an annual allowance of $80.00.

He was a farmer, resided in the town of Richmond, Rhode Island where he owned a farm near Usquepaugh, Rhode Island. He was buried in the family burying ground with his grandfather and father. in the Moore Buring Ground.
