William Bull b. about 1580 Manuden, Hartfordshire, England; m. on June 24, 1605 in Manuden to Jone Allyn, who was b. abt. 1584 in Manuden.

Child of William and Jone Bull:

i. Thomas (Captain) b. 1605 in Manuden; d. October 12, 1684 Hartford, CT; m. Susannah b. 1610 Hartford CT.; d. August 12, 1680 in Hartford Sailed from Sandwich in the Hopewell, age 25, settled in Hartford, CT; buried in ancient burying ground adjoining the Central Congregational Church.

Epitaph: "Here lyeth the body of Capt. Thomas Bull who died October 1684, one of the first settlers in Hartford, CT in the great and decisive battle with the Pequots at Mystic, May 26, 1637, commander of the fort at Saybrook, in July,1675, when it's surrender was demanded by Major Andros."

William, Jr. was the son of William b. about 1592 Essex, England; m. about 1614 England; d. February 17, 1664 Boston, Suffolk, MA

February 3, 1695 Enfield; d. May 24, 1754 Enfield; Ebenezer and Mindwell were married November 20, 1717 in Enfield, CT

ii. Isaac b. October 9, 1714 Jamaica, Queens, NY; d. October 7, 1789 Litchfield, CT; m. Eunice Gillette on February 7, 1731 Windsor, CT

i. Abner b. April 2, 1751 Enfield, Ct; m. Chloe Griffin b. 1731 Simsbury, Hartford, CT; Abner and Chloe Bull were admitted to the Turkey Hill Congregational Church (Now E. Granby, CT) on February 1, 1778, with three children bapt. February 11, 1778. By 1785, they were no longer on the church list. The census of 1790 lists family in Granby; by 1800 Abner Bull Sr. and Jr. were both in Stephentown. Land Records in Stephentown show sales by Sr. to Jr. in 1802 and 1803.

Member of Presbyterian Church at Stephentown; also proprietor of a tavern.

i. Abner, Jr. b. May 22, 1774 Simsbury; d. September 11, 1844 Troy, Rensselaer, NY. George Holcomb wrote in his diary concerning Abner Bull, Jr.'s death: "Capt. Abner Bull died at the side of his wagon coming out of Troy. He was fetched home. His funeral was the 13th at the Presbyterian meetinghouse. Elder Nathan Sweet preached. He was 70 years old." m.Nancy Hayes b. 1779 East Nassau, Rensselaer, NY; d. Stephentown; she was the daughter of William Hayes and Eleanor Boughton

ii. Chloe b. July 18, 1775 Simsbury;Chloe was baptized at Turkey HIlls Church, Granby, CT February 11, 1778. Married as third wife - Joshua Gardner b. 1742 d. October 5, 1829, son of Benjamin Gardner and Mary Howard.

iii. Horatio Gates b. September 8, 1777 Simsbury; m. Mercy Eddy b. about 1785; d. October 23, 1816; Mercy's second husband was Benoni Briggs 1786-December 24, 1853. He was the son of Cary Briggs of Stephentown.

iv. Theresa b. May 28, 1780 Simsbury; m. Capt. Calvin Carr in 1798. He was b. August 6, 1778 in Stephentown, son of Caleb Carr and Abigail Very.

George Holcomb recorded in his diary: “Sunday July 29, 1837 – Today the daughter of Claudius Moffitt was married without his consent to the grandson of old Abner Bull, by the name of Stephen Bull, was married to Sarah Moffitt. She privately escaped from the Methodist quarterly meeting to the west meeting house in Lebanon and went away with said Bull unknown to her connections.”
